Why aren't you guys talking about Huff, Randa or Spiezio to play third for you guys. These guys are better than ****ing Branyan. Branyan has some pop and will be cheap but the guy can't hit for average which this teams needs since the Friars have trouble scoring runs.

    Randa .......Pass old Padre retread
Huff..........like resigns with the Stros, or I'd think he's a good canidate, and if he resigns there is someone else that would work from Houston....
Spiezio ...do you think he'll leave the Cards ?

I think he would leave for a starting job with a team likely to make the playoffs again. Plus a pay raise would help.

He would be better than Branyan, but I'd still like to make a move for Fields....he would likely be the future

Note that I typed AAAA, not AAA. Teahen was better than a triple-A level player but obviously was not nearly the hitter he is this year that Padres fans now knows who Teahen is.

Padresfan, you are underestimating Teahen's value to the Royals if you believe the Royals will take Linebrink, veteran reliever who will likely be at best trade bait for them who won't fetch nearly enough in return as Teahen could three years later.

Uh I think I suggested more than just Linebrink......lol.....and yes I think they have more needs than just one, so I think that we could package up Linebrink in the right deal....

Could we sign both Schmidt and Lilly for what Zito would cost or less ? That would solve all kinds of issues and make this rotation brutal for the next 4+years......
Trade for a quality 3bag and sign Soriano.......we're in business

I don't think any of that will happen. Schmidt will get close to Zito money since there aren't a lot of premium pitchers out there. Lilly will make close to $7 and Soriano will get a shit ton of money.

What is this fascination a lot of you have with lilly? Unless Lilly finds a remedy for his inconsistency, I believe having him anywhere in our rotation for the next 4 years will certainly be brutal for us fans.

"fascination" .....lol.....I'm looking for what's available....Find someone better that will cost approx. the same, and I'm all ears....I think Petco, the NL and Balsey could take care of his issues

and IMO Schmidt will make approx. half of what Zito gets.....and Lilly might be had for 5-6....I doubt he'll get 7 but it could happen

I will say this.....I think my "fascination" if we're using that word is on Mulder this offseason....He might be had for cheap coming off that surgery, and could easily make a full recovery.....he's a risk, but IMO a very good risk if the price tag isn't too high.....

The market for pitchers keeps going up. If Benson can get a $7 mil/yr deal, Lilly sure as ehll can in a weak market. Schmidt will get slightly less since he is the second best pitcher in the market. As for who is out there better than Lilly, I would go with Randy Wolf. I hope my Giants go after him.
