    Congrats to him.

He has come a long way after several rough few years. It's a testament to him that he worked hard to be in this position. He was supposed to be a can't miss player for the Astros, but he never panned himself out there. He made a name of himself with the Padres though.

Yup......just too bad he refuses to put the work in and become a good fielder.......then he'd have more than two tools in what is supposed to be a 5 tool shed. But hats off to "the whipping boy" for what he has done I guess..... I just see the potential that Phil has overall and get mad when the lack of effort produces what I view as half assed player......he could be so much more.........but his bigtime attitude, which is what got him traded around in the past, also hampers him at times.

Phil plays the position where poor defense hurts the least, which is why a lot of poor defenders play there. As much as it bothers me when he bobbles a play he's payed for his bat, so as long as he makes up for it with his bat, which he's been doing, i'm fine with it.

true.....which is why he's there NOW.......the majority of his career in San Diego he's played somewhere else......and it was because of his horrible defense that he was finally moved to 1b as we all know....... if ever there was a guy born to be a DH it's Nevin......
