    Padres take the wildcard lead.

I would rather the Dodgers have lost, but by beating the Reds the Padres now own a 1/2 game lead in the wildcard race.

The Reds are the next series, so we can also put some distance between them if they win that series.

The Phillies, Marlins, Giants, and Snakes are close as well.

Yea, someone finally took advantage of the Reds horrible play. This next series against you guys will surely be a VERY important series. Good luck to the Padres.

with or without Pedro/Glavine we're better off having to beat the Mets 3 times, vice 4 times if we want the Padres to go all the way.

You think ? I think the Mets with both pitchers is far worse duty than facing the Cards which is what we do if we win the Div. right ?

My point is we'll more than likely have to go through the Mets one way or another, so we'd be better off having to beat them 3 times, vice 4.

Of course, the ideal situation would be to win the division, beat the Cards in the 1st round while the WC upsets the Mets.

If the Padres keep pitching like they have been, how knows... Bochy is one of the most under rated managers in all of baseball

    I do too, I think Bochy's a good manager.

But a lot of other Padre fans disagree with me.

But I think that's the nature of managers, they're always the first scapegoat when things go wrong.

    Brewers

I kinda of compare the Padres and the Brewers as similar type teams, but Bochy has always done a good job with blending in pitching and proper baseball strategy

I think most Padre fans know what they have in Bochy, but would like to see him grow in his decision making capabilities. He's the same ho-hum guy day in and day out......and he needs to role with the current team instead of thinking he's got superstars out there.....

Meaning that players have to make adjustments, it would be nice if he learned how too...

I like Boch and would love it if he learned how to get his team to consistantly manufacture runs......
