BJ sent down to make room for super slugger Branyan

    http://www.signonsandiego.com/sports...7padnotes.html

DENVER – The Padres' revolving roster door hit spin again yesterday with two players (infielder-outfielder Russell Branyan and relief pitcher Jon Adkins) arriving and two being eliminated from the 25-man roster.

Outfielder Ben Johnson, who had three hits Friday night, was optioned to Triple-A Portland to make room for Branyan.

Adkins was recalled from Triple-A Portland to replace Scott Williamson, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list with shoulder and elbow soreness.

Johnson deserves more playing time than Branyon.

Yet another mindboggling move by management.

Generally when they make a move that I disagree with I try and come up with some kind of rational reasoning that I can at least understand, I then come to the forums pointing that out and get misunderstood for agreeing with it.

I can't even do that here.

This is the exact reason that I chose not to buy playoff tixs..... I was talking to a group of season tix holders, and not a single one bought them....all saying the same basic thing........why should we financially support the team in the playoffs if it wont support itself

Why deny yourself the opportunity to watch the Padres in the playoffs out of a crazy principal?

I don't care if they traded Jake Peavy, Khalil Greene, Trevor Hoffman, and Adrian Gonzalez to the lowest bidder, if they still somehow made the playoffs i'd want to be there.

But I guess that's just me.

With the new ballpark, I expect playoff baseball far more often than in the previous 30 years.......so that's one reason.......Had they shown that a willingness to do what was needed to win.....I would have supported them.....this just made not buying tixs very easy......I could also have bought them and sold them off, and chose not too.....

Season tixs sales are down drastically so far.......according to someone inside the Season Tix office.....they are trying to figure out what to do to get those #'s back........ interesting eh ?

They still have a very intrigal offseason to show how dedicated they may or may not be, i'm not going to be quick to judge them based off one questionable trade deadline right before that offseason.

If we as ticket holders are this quick to judge we will be denying them the revenue they need to prevent this from being what's going on in Milwaukee for instance.

It's a sad state of affairs, and there's a "chicken or the egg" debate that can be had here, but the bottom line is they can't keep payroll up if people don't go to the games so, despite how "dedicated" you think they might be with us going to the game the definitely won't be if a lot of people don't.

If we do, there's still that "chance"

That is, if you want to look at it that way, anyways.

Me, I can understand that I won't agree with some of their moves, (I definitely don't agree with this one.) But that doesn't mean they don't want to win, it just means they have a different philosophy on how to go about doing it than I might have.

That's definitely not even astronomically close enough to get me to deny myself the opportunity to watch baseball games....especially not playoff baseball games...just so I can deny John Moores 55 dollars/game out of sheer principal.

I never said I wasn't going to renew my seats.......just passing on that season tix sales are way down .... In fact I am working on obtaining two more seats......that will give me 4 total......on the wall in LF......I love them and wont let them go......but I'll be damned if I'm going to support what I believe to be a crappy product by buying post season tixs...I'll just save that money to renew when the time comes....

Unlike you I didn't miss 1984, 1996, 1998 or 2005........maybe if you hadn't you'd feel the same way.......I'm not jonesing for another postseason asskicking, and IMO this team doesn't belong as is in the playoffs........not even close.......we're playing like crap and deserve exactly what we get if anything at all.......we're about to be overtaken by SF, and that will complete a two team surge that will see two last place teams overtaking the team that was in 1st for the majority of the season.....had the FO not ****ed around and gotten us the missing pieces, we'd in all likelyhood still be in first and they would all still be chasing us.........but they didn't........

the season ticket rant was on people in general, wasn't really directed specifically at you.

As far as the playoffs go, I just can't fathom missing out on them, regardless of the state of the team, but I suppose if I had been there in the previous seasons I might feel differently.

Of course it's also not that much of a hassle for me to go to the game when i'm not out to sea, so that's also a factor.
