    I think it's in Schmidt's best interest to not resign with the Gnats, and to move south to San Diego next year......... He would make a nice #2 and make for a great 1 2 3 rotation

    That would be the best move, that way he never has to face the Padres.

    Hennessey is 0-1 with a 3.94 ERA against us
    Hensley is 1-0 with a 2.19 ERA against San Francisco

    Morris is 6-2 with a 2.69 ERA against us
    Young is 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA against them

    Lowry is 3-1 with a 3.58 ERA against us
    CHP is 7-8 with a 5.08 ERA against them

    Cain is 1-0 with a 2.61 ERA against us
    Peavy is 8-4 with a 3.58 ERA against them

    We can afford him, there's plenty of money coming off the books.

    I don't know if they'll go top dollar or not, though. (and if they don't it won't be because they want to "pocket" the money, it'll be because they'd rather spread it around more with mid-tier FAs/extend contracts/throw more money at the Dominican Republic thing, etc etc)
