I still think he'll be a Dodger or Met, preferably a Dodger with Colleti's connections with San Francisco. They'll give him some overpaid contract too.

But if we cannot get Schmidt, lets go for Zito. Bring him home!

Schmidt's from Seattle and has expressed interest in going home, so the Mariners are in the fold for his services.

Sorry I missed my cue but I thought it was funny that he would be your #2 though as Schmidt has been better than Peavy. Schmidt will not sign with the Padres Schmidt will get close to Zito money this offseason.

He'd also be smart for ejecting now from SF........that's a ship in complete rebuild mode once Barroid retires or leaves....

Ok so Schmidt has been better 3 out of the past 5 years and has actually finished higher in CY young voting than Peavy so yeah like I said, Schmidt has been better. Will Peavy finsih with a better career, absolutely!

He also got more wins due to getting better run support.

Peavy deserved more votes than he got the past couple seasons....as in he should've gotten some.

(note that I said votes and not that he should've won it.)

Sorry but Schmidt was the best pitcher in 2003 hands down and should have won if it weren't for Gagne's amazing streak. Can't say that about Peavy and yes he should have had more votes. Too bad he had to compete with Clemens and Carpenter.

As for Schmidt needing to jump ship, the Giants will have plenty of moeny next year to throw at FA's so Schmidt should stay. The Giants are not going to completely overhaul and rebuild from scratch. The will go after the Soriano's and Lee's and if Schmidt does decide to test the market, the Zito's.

I don't remember anyone questioning the amount of money the Giants had to spend on a rebuild.... did someone say that ?
