    Wait this doesn't make sense:

"The Padres are looking to trade Ryan Klesko in August"

doesn't the deadline end in late July?

you can trade players after July 31st, but they have to clear waivers first and nobody's going to claim Klesko's contract.

Larry Walker was traded to St Louis in August.

    Ahh.

I also notcied that Ensburg is a possible option. That would be pretty awesome.

"A player must clear waivers if he is to be traded after July 31. Because Klesko is expensive, it's doubtful any club would risk assuming his contract by placing a waiver claim on him. The Padres probably can't wait until August, however, to acquire a third baseman, and Towers has accelerated his search"

Anyone who takes on Vinny Castilla better be getting paid to do it.

Houston sounds like a suitable destination for Vinny.

i'm sure more than Vinny would be involved.

Also, the article suggested the Padres would be willing to cut their losses with him.

i think ( like another sign on poster said)

If we willconsider moving Kottras and Linebrink.... We should consider a bit more to get cabbrerra.

    it doesn't hurt to ask.

It is very suprising in this article also that with Armas's price tag the padres even asked the cubs about him..

I look forward to good things in san diego.

Linebrink, Kotteras & PMac are all looking like good tradebait right now.....all have value, all have worth....all are going to play at the MLB level....two are ready now.....one will be ready either now or next season

Those three for Cabrera or Zimmerman.....or something along those lines

I think those three for Zimmerman would probably be a fair trade, but I don't forsee the Nationals trading him. He looks to be the cornerstone of their offense for some time now. We're just as likely to trade Chris Young as they are Zimmerman IMO.

As far as Cabrerra goes, that's pretty feesable, as long as the Marlins are willing to deal...which is pretty likely.

As far as the list of players the article suggested

Corey Koskie - NO. I wouldn't want to give up Kotteras fora 33 yr old slight improvement at 3rd

Bill Hall - I'd be ok with, but would rather have more. He's young, so he has upside.

Andy Marte/Wilson Betiment - Don't know much about either, but they've been highly touted so i'd be cool with acquiring them.

Ensberg - I'd be all for him, despite his struggles. He still has 19 HRs, which is nothing to sneeze at.

I cannot see Ensberg, Marte or Zimmerman as available. Houston needs all the offense they can get, Indians creamed their jeans when they got Marte and Boone is to be a FA and Zimmerman is a no brainer. He is ROY material and makes next to nothing for at least three more years.

    I agree on Zimmerman

as for the other two, i'm merely commenting on what the article (and Kevin Towers, for that matter) mentioned.

If this was a thread on me just saying we should trade the two that wasn't based on a published article by a San Diego newspaper's internet site I most definitely wouldn't have brought Ensberg's name up.

Possibly Marte, despite the fact that I agree with you on the odds of him going anywhere.

Mark Bellhorn could see increased playing time at third base after the All-Star break.
The Padres' general manager Kevin Towers isn't happy with the way Vinny Castilla has been swinging the bat lately. He said that Bellhorn and Geoff Blum could see more time in the future. Towers is also actively pursing a third baseman through a trade. The Brewers' Bill Hall and Corey Koskie, the Braves' Wilson Betemit and Indians Triple-A prospect Andy Marte are among the players Towers is looking at.
