    Padres AAA Portland

I wanted to throw this question out there because we seem to be the only ones not giving our young guys a shot. Look at the Dodgers, Yankees, Atlanta, Arizona, etc. Why not give guys like Jack Cust (.292/23/62), Jon Knott (.270/25/94), PMac (.315/16/61) or even Justin Leone at 3rd (.282/18/64).

Dodgers, Yankees, Atlanta, Arizona young guys >>>>>>>>> Our young guys.

Don't worry, though, we'll be there in a few. Sandy/Fuson's drafts the past couple years look pretty good.

our AAA guys could very easily be better than our current bench guys.....and just maybe better than some of the starters....

Knott and PMac have both had multiple shots in the major league squad,

I wouldn't write either of them off just yet, but I wouldn't get my hopes up with them either, especially not Knott. (no pun intended.)

I don't know much about Cust and all I know about Leone is that he's put up some decent minor league numbers this year.

They can't do any worse off than Bellhorn, though.

I wouldn't go as far as to label any of them better than any of our starters, though....that is, unless you consider Blum to be a starter due to Khalil's current injury.

I'd rather see Leone and PMac at 3rd tomorrow than Walker..... I want them to prove they can't do the job better than a 2nd baseman....I think Leone could, and I believe PMac might also....but that's a longshot....he'll why not try....

From what i've read on the PMac at third experirment you'd be begging for Todd Walker back after a few games with him there.

And I find it kinda funny that you call for that, considering PMac is also NOT a third baseman. They simply tried to convert him to one because everyone's favorite Beaver was struggling for 2 straight months.

    Then keep begging for Leone.

But I promise you you'll be begging for Todd Walker back at third if they play PMac there.

I was........Leone was included........and I may wish for Walker back, but I sure as hell would like to see a real 3rd baseman get a shot, especially since he's in our FRIGG'N SYSTEM

You act like they pulled some hobo off the street and stuck him on third base.

Todd Walker came up as a third baseman, it's more of a matter of getting back what he used to know.

Trevor Hoffman came up as a SS......do you want him filling in for Kahlil while his finger is healing ? Come on man......there is a reason he was converted....and it wasn't because he was good

Trevor was converted long before he made it to the majors.

Todd played 3rd throughout the minors and in the majors at some point.

I've long since maintained that 1) He wasn't my preference and 2) not accepting the betimit deal was a bad choice.

I just don't think putting Todd Walker at third equates to the kindergarten level intelligence type move that you make it out to be.

You act like they put...well, Trevor Hoffman at third.

No.....I act like they've put a career 2nd baseman at 3rd during a pennant run.......after they promised they would get us an everyday, future 3bag.....and I'm pissed about it......

why anyone would attempt to defend or debate this move on any level is beyond me....it was as you say.......a kindergarten move
