if they go down then you call up Cust, McAnulty, Sledge, or Knott.
But that's irrelevant to whether we should have Bellhorn or one of the guys you mentioned on the roster right now.

You know whats funny? We're talking about Bellhorn in 3 different Padres threads (this one included).
But they released EY for what reason? Because he's not doing anything to help this team offensively, neither is Bellhorn batting .200, plus, Bellhorn isn't exactly a Gold Glove defensive player.
But, despite not being a gold glover, Bellhorn IS doing something to help the team defensively....which is not something we can say about Eric Young.
Bellhorn may not be a gold glove, but he's no slouch either.
Not to mention we had an adaquate replacement for EY in BJ.
Despite all the hype over his AAA numbers Leone has failed everytime he has been promoted to the major league level. He isn't exactly a kid.
Every time he's been called up? He was a rookie in 2004 with the Mariners and only played 31 games that year (6 HR's 13 RBI's). Ben Johnson played 31 games last year and had worse numbers than Leone, do you call him a failure?
you're right, I digress.
I was letting a few retorts from jaded Mariners fans cloud my thought process.
It won't happen again.
That said, he's still 29 years old and no spring chicken.
Not to mention, his AAA numbers dropped off so dramatically after his fast start that they started experimenting with PMac at 3rd.
I don't think they dropped off dramatically...he's batting .284 (4th on the team with more than 100 AB's), T-2nd on the team in HR's (17 with Jack Cust) and 2nd on the team in RBI's (62). He's not having that bad of a year Hollywood.Quote:

they should've released EY a couple of weeks back.
Bring back Vinny!
EY should have been released last year, he is a terrible now, he's old, can't field a position and if he's so damn great in the clubhouse, make him a coach....he's older than a few we have...
EY was good last year.
EY wasn't good last year......he missed most of last year......he broke himself on day one....
When he came back, he wasn't much more than OK in the OF and at the plate
EY batted .275 with a .356 OBP last year.
Not too shabby off the bench.
True....and what was the collective BA for our bench....wasn't it around .300 ?
I didn't say he was the best off the bench last year, I was simply pointing out that he wasn't the horrible EY we all grew to dislike this year.
