    Padres want Beltre.

According to FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal, the Padres have made Adrian Beltre their No. 1 target as they seek to upgrade at third base.
The Mariners are planning to be buyers, not sellers, but if that changes, they'd be willing to talk about Beltre, who is owed about $4 million for the rest of 2006 and $36.5 million over the following three seasons. The Mariners would almost certainly have to pay a portion of his salary in order to deal him, and even then, they probably wouldn't get much in return. If Beltre is going to be moved, it's quite a bit more likely to happen in the offseason. Jul. 20 - 6:04 pm et

Don't really like the idea, but he is an upgrade over Castilla.

    Padres

Rosenthal seems to think the Padres are hoping he regains his former NL West form....unlikely. I'm with you, I'd much rather have a guy like Ensberg.

I just like Ensberg better. He's like Khalil Greene, just at third base.

I didn't say I prefered Beltre over Ensberg, I was simply pointing out the fact that Beltre was hot while facing his old NL West foes during interleague.

it's tough reading through that code, but perhaps I meand he was hot against the Padres?

I will admit I was mainly going off what the announcers were stating when the Mariners were playing us.

Sorry about that, can't really fix it. But his numbers appear to be just ok against NL teams. Nothing spectacular.

On Ensberg, i've been watching the local shows here (FS Houston) and it doesn't seem that they will trade him (yet). When he gets back to the DL, he'll take 3B while Huff/Berkman take 1B/RF
