Nicely done Towers; now move Linebrink and Kotteras for Beltre / Ensberg / Ramirez; keep targeting proven players rather than prospects that our farm will shred.

    Padres

I would be shocked if the Cubs traded Ramirez, I don't think they make that move at all, especially since he's really their only power threat with Lee's injury not recovering like he'd hoped. With Berkman with a groin injury, I think that lessens the chance of Ensberg getting moved and Beltre's contract would be more than the Padres would be willing to take on unless Seattle offers to pay most of it, but that's unlikely.

I would also think so, but nothing is impossible.

    Padres

This according to ESPN's Buster Olney.....

The Padres' deal for Scott Williamson means that San Diego has a couple of options. They could merely fold Williamson into their bullpen and have more depth, or they are now in a better position to listen to offers for set-up man Scott Linebrink, at a time when teams are salivating for bullpen help. Linebrink will make $1.75 million in 2007, as part of a contract he signed 18 months ago, and it wouldn't be surprising if they talked to the Astros about a Linebrink-for-Morgan Ensberg trade.

Buster Olney lost all credibility the day he suggested the Padres were about to trade Jake Peavy for Mike Lowell
