I felt the same way, too...at first.

"Once he gets loose, he's fine. But he'd been getting treatment over the previous four days [after a start in Arizona], and, hopefully, it's not an issue. If you talk about leaving him in, it's risk and reward. It probably would have taken 140-some pitches to do what you're talking about. No way I'm going to risk that. The biggest thing for him and the club is keeping Jake healthy."

    Padres

Want to get your opinions on the following rumors according to ESPN Insider.....

    Greg Maddux

    Padres?
    Dodgers?
    Diamondbacks?
    Compassion play?
May 25 - A change of scenery might be good for Greg Maddux, the Daily Herald reports. Though the future Hall of Famer probably won't push for a trade, his no-trade clause doesn't mean the Cubs can't investigate. Former Cubs/Giants exec Ned Colletti is the GM in L.A., and he offered Maddux more money to sign with San Francisco than Maddux took to play for the Cubs. Arizona does things the right way, and San Diego also would be an appealing city. Maddux is owed $6 million for the rest of this season, which could stall a deal, but if the Cubs have any heart at all they'll find a way to get him out of Chicago.

    Jon Garland

    Angels?
    Dodgers?
    Padres?
    Rangers?
    Confidence game
May 24 - Jon Garland's job in the White Sox's starting rotation is safe for now, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. But in the big picture, he might be pitching his way out of Chicago. GM Ken Williams has said one of the current five starters likely will be moved this offseason so Brandon McCarthy can be given a spot. Considering the Sox came close to moving Freddy Garcia this past offseason, all indications last month were that he would be the odd man out. No longer. Nonetheless, pitching coach Don Cooper has given Garland his vote of confidence: "Jon Garland is not doing bad. He's just not as efficient as we've seen him."
