I think they should lock up both Bowen and Bard for the next few seasons. These are 2 young guys who could make a definite impact for the Padres

yes he is.......but I think they did this knowing that we have two catchers still on the roster.....otherwise I think he goes day to day
Bard and Piazza are good enough to get the job done. Yes, this offense will miss Bowen's bat, but they'll hold down the fort until he comes back.

Yes it is.........I'm looking forward to seeing Kotteras play......kid seems to have the right stuff so far
Anyone know if Bowen and Bard are going to be FA's after the end of the year? I would love to sign both of those guys long term, especially since we all know the Padres are not going to pick up Piazza's $8m option for next season.

I don't know.........just remember that we have a kid ready to come up......if you sign both then what do you do with him.... ??
keep him as the starter and know that you have a more than qualified back up.

Having three this year has been a brilliant move......dumping Mirabelli was IMO one of the key moves so far this short year.........
Bard and Bowen have been HUGE finds for the Padres this season, especially with Bard calling great games behind the plate.

I remember when Catcher was a black hole for us.
Now it seems as though anybody we bring in is an instant hit.

it was a black hole, that got very bright with the addition of the Italians, but Mirabelli had far too big a chip on his shoulder for the zero production he was delivering.....and now that he's back in Boston, he just can't seem to shut up about the Padres.....what a classy guy.....got what he wanted and still wont shut his pie hole
