    June Gloom

    went to tonight's game..

its been awhile since I've been able to actually sit down and watch the game..

but June Gloom has arrived .. Padres are now 0-2 in the month of June..

my only question is why the heck was Miguel Ojeda playing RF.

    He looked lost out there..

on another note, Klesko looks much moreimproved in LF.. and Roberts range in CF.. well.. yea.

hopefully ill get to go to more games soon :p

kobe simple........he plays a better OF than Klesko and has looked very very good in LF.....they figured to try him in RT.......didn't work out very well......

I've been to a few games with Ojeda playing OF, and frankly feel better with him out there than Klesko......not nearly the circus

June Gloom has arrived? Let's not freak out, our worst pitcher (this year) and then a rookie pitcher have lost two games in a row to start the month, that's no reason to start proclaiming "June gloom has arrived" Let's wait and see how the rest of the month starts to go before we start crying the sky is falling.

They lost two games in a row to the slumping Mariners in the middle of the best month in franchise history, so let's give this a few more days first.

I don't know about that, I saw first row in LF last night, and I thought Klesko played it a lot better than I've seen him do it in the past.

While Ojeda in RF was mis-reading everything..

i've never personally seen Ojeda play the outfield, but I was informed that he did a pretty good job the last time he was playing left field.

I have to agree, in regards to Klesko, that what i've seen myself up until leaving for deployment, and in the two games i've seen on the ship since, is market improvement in the outfield. Even if he does still have to occasionaly chase down what should be a routine fly and make it look hard...and even in those cases he seems to be getting the job done anyways.

    Padres

Hey Leo, how's it going werever you are?

I agree....too early for a June gloom prediction...but...I've been around too many years to not know how quickly this has potential of turning around and it is skeery....

But hey think positive right? They had too excellent of a May not to carry it over. Go Padres !!!!!

I don't believe in the "i've been around too many years to know this has potential of falling, yadda yadda yadda" line.

I've been a Padres fan since the mid-80s, so I've seen my share of horrible Padres teams and losing seasons, so I know what you're getting at there. But at the same time, I pride myself on being realistic and I realize that this team on the field is NOT the same teams that were fielded in all those decrepid seasons, (save a few good years)

That's not to say that I don't think there's any potential of them slipping out of playoff contention, this is, afterall the same core group as last year. (albeit with a much better bench and a VASTLY better bullpen) But I won't, and I refuse to ever get concerned over this team's ability to contend simply because a group of not-so-great players from the late 80s/early 90s, or from 1999-2003 couldn't get the job done, considering that the only people assosiated with any of those teams, (all being the 99-03 crowd) were most definitely not the problems. (Bochy, Trevor, Klesko, Nevin, BLaw, Peavy, Eaton, Damian Jackson, Mark Sweeney)

Anyways, If I'm following the rotation correctly, Adam Eaton gets the start tonight, followed by Darrel May, then Jake Peavy. I forsee a series split...although May has managed to go 0-0 in all of his starts, with the offense picking him up for the most part.

Klesko playing better OF isn't saying much......he could only go up .....lol.....and yes he's playing better.......Ojeda has played a few games in LF this year and in LF he's played very well......not nearly the circus Klesko sometimes is.......Ojeda did not look good in RT...........that much I do admit......but I've seen many games with Klesko out there......my season tixs are in the first row Left Field Lower Box row 1.....I believe I have a decent barometer to guage how they do in LF .........

PFF, did you have those same tickets last season? I had season tickets last season in LF lower boxes, row 4. Right by the bullpen

I'm not trying to make Klesko out to be the best outfielder in the game, and he did look like a bit of a circus, as you put it, in the few games I was able to go to this season. I was simply agreeing that he has seemed to have gotten better out there, and even seems to be a bit better at making up for misreads. (hence the "making what should be a routine play look like a great catch") he did that a few times in some of the games I went to.

Any rate, the Padres won today, ("#2 stud" Eaton is now 8-1) so maybe the "June Gloom" is short lived

I also saw that Jake might miss his start on Sunday But at least it's just an illness, which means he'll miss one start at most. The sportsline gameday recap article I read this on said that Woody will return from the DL to start in his place if he misses it

Yup.......we had season tixs at the Murph from '96 on, and when we came over to Petco, because of our longevity, our seats were moved to LF lower box row 1.....from row 4 at the Murph......no complaints here ....

Do you still have your seats.......if so, what days are your tixs ?

I had Saturdays and Thursdays last year, with a few Mondays.

I don't have them this year as i'm on deployment in the middle of the ocean

    Padres

OK guys, I'm starting to get a little worried. This June Gloom thing is lingering and it is time for it to burn off......permanently.

The Pads are 1-5 in June. If the Snakes, who are 1-6 and the Dogs, who are 4-3, hadn't also done some losing, the Pads could have found themselves down around third place by now. is going on? Come on ya'all pull yer heads out, quick.

And.....what is this saying about the NL West? Who are they losing to? Why are they losing? What does this mean for a potential playoff spot? Etc, etc....
