    not true.

The sports media jizzes over win loss totals, which wouldn't have been as good for Carpenter had he pitched here last year.

Bonds was hitting 30-40 HRs a year before he started taking roids

edit: but I realize you said "as many"

sports media is all about the win total........... ERA title, strikeout title means squat if you don't have the wins to go with it.......if you do you pretty much get the Cy Young ........ and wins are a frigg'n team stat.......good god

    Padres

Peavy is a Cy Young capable pitcher, there's no question about that. We can question what happened last night until we're blue in the face, Jake pitched well enough to get the win, the bullpen just couldn't hang on to the lead.

Carpenter had an amzing stretch of wins without giving up two runs. Also you keep saying the pen let him down last year well that why Carpenter had 7 CG's and 4 shutouts. Plus the man was 15-1 on the road. OUTPITCHED!!! Clemens didn't get it because Carpenter and Willis threw way more innings than Clemens, not the wins. It didn't help but Clemens too was simply outpitched. Peavy was not even in the top five in voting.

I don't know about PFF, but i'm not saying Peavy had a better year than Carpenter last year.

However, I AM saying his win/loss record wouldn't have been quite as good if he had a Padre uniform on all year last year

I don't think PFF is saying that either and yes his win/loss record would be worse off but not by that much. Carpenter was just dominant last year and continues to do so this season.

Peavy was dominant last year as well, didn't bode too well for his win/loss record.
