It's never better for your ace to be screwed over........he's the one guy in the line up that the team should ralley behind every start, knowing that if they produce and he tosses his normal game then we most likely win..... Instead they take the day off offensively and we lose.......I think the offense needs to get up to help all pitchers but you would think that Peavy's 30+ starts would be our best shots at winning, not our best shots and an absent offense

while this is true I find it hard to get mad at a guy for something I don't precieve as his fault (young)

Peavy is going to do what he does, but he needs the offense to step up and give him the runs to win.

You can say this for pretty much any pitcher who pitches a decent game.

And this concept is why the win-loss stats for a pitcher is the most overated stats in profesional sports.

Hollywood.......asking for 2-3 runs a game for Peavy isn't like asking for 6 runs for Woody.....lol

If you honestly think Peavy lost the Cy Young award because of a team effort then you were not watching baseball last year. Carpenter simply out pitched Peavy and Clemens and Willis had great years too.

Peavy got 2 runs, and it would've been enough if not for Linebrink

wheras I don't think he would've gotten it anyways cuz of those you mentioned, he was still hindered by a lack of a large win total....which was due moreso to the team than his pitching efforts.

Carpenter was a lock for that shit even if you spot Peavy five more wins. The guy was unreal and has started off this year on fire.

    I won't argue with that.

Peavy may have gotten a vote or two had he had more wins, however

And if you think that Peavy with 20 wins and being the strikeout champ doesn't at least get him some votes then you're insane.......He was barely even talked about in last years Cy Young race unless you were in San Diego.....that was due mainly to his lack of Wins........which clearly wasn't his fault............which is why this thread was started.........blown holds or lack of offense is NOT something he can control.....

Yeah well Carpenter on the Pads with the way he pitched would still get the Cy Young. Like I said Peavy was just outpitched.

thats just false........no way..........Carpenter on the Padres last year, getting screwed like Peavy did wins 13-14 and doesn't get the Cy Young........for the same reasons Clemens didn't win it

    Padres

Peavy would have easily won the Cy Young last year with the Cardinals offense, there's no question about that. Saying Carpenter would have won the Cy Young, even in San Diego, is like saying Barry Bonds could hit just as many HR's without steroids.
