    Chris Young to have MRI

Chris Young: Bothered by Sore Thumb - 4/23/2006 12:58:35 AM

    Update:
Young struggled with his control in Saturday's loss to the Mets, apparently a byproduct of jamming his thumb in batting practice earlier this season, the Padres' official site reports. Young said afterwards that the thumb had bothered him in previous starts, but not as badly as it did on Saturday night.

    Recommendation:
"Chris has something going on with his thumb," manager Bruce Bochy said. "We need to find out. With the cool weather tonight, he just couldn't feel how much pressure he's putting on the ball with the thumb. And he just couldn't get the ball where he wanted tonight. We're going to get an MRI [exam on Monday] to see if we can figure out what's going on there."

Chris Young: MRI on Monday - 4/23/2006 11:57:58 PM

    Update:
Young, who left Saturday's game with a bum thumb, will have an MRI exam and see a hand specialist on Monday, according to the team's official site.

    Recommendation:
Young left Saturday's game after four innings and said, "I felt like I had my thumb stuck in a freezer. I couldn't tell if my thumb was even on the right spot on the ball. I got to the point where I was constantly thinking about it. You can't have that going on."

The Padres will be hurting if Young has to go on the DL with Estes out at least for another month. Could it be time for the Padres to bring up Carillo?

SD is 21st in SP ERA and really cannot afford to lose Young for a huge amount of time. I hope he is ok because I have yet to see him pitch this year.

    Padres

That's good news on Chris Young. I heard Darren mention yesterday during the BP show that it was some sort of artery blockage, hopefully they got him squared away.

Hell yeah its good news as the Padres need to protect Peavy. Funny how everything I said was ignored over a simple true comment earlier!

    Padres

Padres are now 3-8 at home.....what happened to "being a contender" as Sandy Alderson has told Padre fans? When is this team going to start winning games and scoring runs in support of their pitchers.

pretty sad state of affairs right now for sure.......at least we're in a division that can't seem to get out of it's own way......we're playing like complete crap and only 3 games back right now........if we turn it around even a little we're back at the top of this pile pretty quickly....

1st avoid the sweep and 2nd start our upward movement in LA........should all the right things happen we could be at the top by the end of the week......or we could be buried also........I'd prefer the first

It wasn't ignored, but there was no reason to reply since you had repeated what we've been saying in here for a long time...... it just took you longer to catch up......

the team looked good enough to contend to me (at least when taking into consideration the state of the entire division)

I put more blame on the players and/or field management than I do Sandy.

I agree with that........ Alderson isn't the one leaving the bases loaded with no outs........he's not the one failing to hit the ball..........or blowing holds and leads
