Well, you know, we didn't want him to part with a great, young bat for pennies. And we want him to beat you in 5-6 years.

I feel like I was pushed to give up more than I wanted - more than Impossibles wanted as well - but I still think that, in the long run, this will be a good deal for both sides. With Bennett being more ML-ready, and Moylan + Silva already there, I felt that the time to make my offense start moving was now.

you only gave up 1 definite major leaguer, while the jury is [most definite pun intended] out on another. you couldve pulled back kim, teruo and riva and id have passed it just the same. but without the potential for at least a 2nd major leaguer, i saw no reason why anyone would decide to trade a 27 year old stud that theyd hold control over for at least another year.

*28 year old. No, you're absolutely right. In retrospect, I should've insisted on keeping Riva, as he was a good backup position player to have; as it were, I have more MIF prospects than positions, and assuming (and this is a big assumption) that Haskin starts developing at some point, I have Merrit to be the backup IFer.

Your core is younger than mine. I might have 3 years you have 5 years at least.
