Eh, they just try to keep it fair. Just out of curiousity... what was the original trade... the one that got declined?

  4. #4
    Minnesota Receives
Pedro Liriano SP 4.0 stars 8,971,429
Ellis Westling RP 4.5 stars 300,000
Louis Riel RP, 3.0 stars MLC
    Salary Subtotal: 9,271,429

    Boston Receives
Scott Brown 2b 5.0 spect MLC
Matt Moses SS 2.0 stars 300,000

Reason for decline: imbalance of talent favoring Minnesota.

No shit, there's gonna be an imbalance. I'm ****ing shedding payroll and bringing in youngsters. There's gotta be an imbalance, but I like this one.

I think maybe taking out Riel, or a mid range prospect (2.5-3 stars) to you would've got it done. Liriano for Brown is fine... pitching is more important than hitting, but the contract... Westling for Moses goes in his favor, but Moses could be a nice ball player when he maxes out, and the age is a factor... 5 years is pretty big, considering this game starts the decline on players about 33 years old... and Westling is a reliever, so they probably have the least value of any position in the game. So yea.

Slyder, how about I take our Riel?

Unless it is blatant (like trading people of the same position, same salary, same age, and huge talent gaps) or the salaries are just too f*cked up, I always thought it was sort of stupid for the TC to reject a trade. I bet the Mets sure wish there was a TC in baseball last year to reject the Kazmir deal. I know this has been argued and it isn't really up for debate, but I just thought I'd throw that in there.

The TC helps a lot more than it hurts. That's all I'll say, and it's all that needs to be said.

Looks like we finally got a trade done. Tough negotiation on both sides.
