Why was I autoed a 4.0 spec with the 2nd overall pick? That's such a joke when you got guys like James Augustin going 5th overall.

no clue about that but this happened before in the 2008 season, when the signing bonus was first put in place, San Fran had the 1st overall pick but missed out on the best rated player due to no cash and got a 3.5 star prospect instead

I don't know how it specifically works, but if you have cash like that, you can still get someone with a signing bonus. I guess the maker of the game thought it would be too cruel to give a poor team a nothing prospect who would not need a signing bonus in the first round. However, teams that are here for the draft in that financial situation, or have someone picking for them, can manually select any player and it will go through (regardless of signing bonus.) The game can be a bit screwy.

I think that's so weird though, cause what Porter said made a lot of sense to me initially, but then I looked it over and realize.. in that case, they can't afford drafting anyone. And then there's other teams in the "red". I do hate the computer, I would never trust it with a top ten pick ever.

Sounds like the giants were screwed over moreso than the padres, at least SD got a quality prospect at a weak position. [shrug] Padres weren't the only ones snake bit by the AI, from what I can tell.
