I still stick by those two though. They are 5 tooled pitchers, both of them.
Just out of curiousity... I know what the 5 tools of a hitter are... What are the 5 tools of a pitcher?

They're in the NL. They've got Webb who has averaged over the course of their careers slightly more IP and slightly lower ERA than Peavy. Haren on the other hand has averaged about 20 more IP, and a ERA that is about .15 higher, which is countered by having pitching in the AL. I think that statistically, and based on their capabilities, its very close between the SD duo and the Arizona duo....but I go with Webb/Haren.

By the way, I will continue to argue that there is no better quartet than Johan/Pedro/Maine/Perez. How many can beat 3 15 game winners, and Pedro all in one rotation?
If the Giants had any kind of offense, I would give the Giants a good shot with Zito, Cain, Lincecum, and Lowry against your four.

I like your argument, OrioleMagic, I really do. What I will say is that Pedro will be a decent two this year, and overall, the Mets rotation is significantly better than any other team(in my opinion), but I concede defeat here.

By the way, The Indians are not much younger than the Mariners big two.

Most accomplished could go with Atlanta's John Smoltz and Tim Hudson.

I'm going with Clevelands big two for they won 38 games last season.

Most accomplished is easily the Mets. Pedro has 3 Cy Youngs, 200 wins, 3000 strikeouts. Johan is the best pitcher of the decade, 2 Cy Youngs, almost 100 wins at age 29, and over 1300 K's. Maine and Perez are both young but have each already had 15 win seasons, and Perez of course had the 246 K season as a rookie in Pittsburgh.

Can I make a write-in vote for Chan Ho Park and Esteban Loaiza?
I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.

    Re: Pocket Aces

the most accomplished duo is pedro and santana... pedro was the best pitcher of the 90s, now that clemens has been established as a fraud and a roido. fact of the matter is, RIGHT NOW, the best duo in the league, is cc sabathia and fausto carmona. two legitimate starters, in a tougher league. i wish they wouldve shut down the sox, to show where theyre at on a national level, but you cant take away talent on a 6 month span, for 1 start each. cleveland gets the nod by me, two great starters right there.

If we're allowed to factor in past accomplishments (as opposed to how they'll fare this year) the Padres win hands down when you throw Maddux into the mix.
