The pirates pitching coach is named Sea-Rage. That's some Posideon stuff right there!

Morton hits the DL with elbow inflammation. I hope its not serious or else that's a good blow to the rotation.

The depth helps right now...Karstens is already on a rehab, Lincoln can come from the back of the pen and start if needed, and Rudy Owens just had a really good start in AAA. Hopefully it's minor, because Charlie had been good, but if not, we have it well covered.

The Bucs are above the defending champs in June. How often do has one said that in the past 20 years? Also, Tony Sanchez was promoted to AAA.

Two years in a row, being ahead of STL in the first couple months.

Can you feel the 5-24 August coming?

    I certainly can.

Charlie Morton could need Tommy John elbow surgery.
Morton recently had his rehab shut down after complaining of more discomfort in his throwing elbow. He'll get a range of opinions before deciding whether to go under the knife. Tommy John surgery would leave him sidelined through most of the 2013 season.
Damn, that sucks! Hopefully it won't come to surgery

Bad news for the Bucco's. They've been promising this season.

McDonald threw a gem tonight and McCutchen had another great game. He is really turning things up this year. Jones, Barajas and Alvarez all went deep and it was weird to see the Pirates actually score 9 runs. Pirates now sit 2 games out of first.

Third time in the last 5 games the Pirates have scored 9. Crazy.

Garrett getting one for his 31st birthday was nice to see.

Detroit coming to town over the weekend. Hopefully no-hitters are absent.

Tabata sent down and Gorkys Hernandez was called up. Hernandez is a former top 100 prospect and part of the McLouth deal with the Braves.

Yeah, Tabata's getting the Presley treatment: send him down to get confidence, bring him back and hope he hits.

I figure Gorkys will be back to defensive-sub outfiled duty for Jones, Harrison or Sutton, in the late innings.
