    Pirates Correia named Opening Day Starter

    The Pirates have named Kevin Correia their Opening Day starter against the Cubs.
    It's probably not a good sign when Correia is your Opening Day starter. The 30-year-old right-hander scored a two-year, $8 million contract with the Pirates this offseason after posting a 5.40 ERA and 1.49 WHIP over 145 innings with the Padres last season. We're not any more optimistic about him now that he's outside of PETCO Park.
    Yikes! In 18.1 innings this spring, Correia has given up 27 hits and 13 runs though he has struck out 15. Maholm, Olendorf, Morton and McDonald will follow Correia. I will admit, it does look better than last year's rotation.

    It makes sense that a losing pitcher would open the season for a loser team.

    Correia is now 2-0 after pitching seven scoreless against the Cards. Pirates have been looking good so far.

    Correia moves to 3-1 after throwing a CG and allowing just 2 ER. Not a bad start for him and the Pirates.

    Correia goes 4 1/2 innings and gives up 5 er to a shitty Nationals team. Not a good start for him and the Pirates, losers of 4 of 5.
