Pirates add more scrap: sign Jose Veras

The Pirates and Jose Veras have come to terms on a minor league deal, according to ESPN Deportes' Enrique Rojas.

Veras was non-tendered by the Marlins after finishing with a 3.75 ERA in 48 innings last season. His lack of command has turned him into a journeyman, but he projects as well as anyone in the Pittsburgh pen aside from Evan Meek and Joel Hanrahan.

Not a bad addition, espeically for the price. 3.75 ERA with a 1.27 WHIP isn't too, too bad. Hopefully he'll catch on as the 7th inning guy.

Certainly not as big a piece of sCRAP as some or most of their other additions.

I like it! Good to see the Pirates win the bidding on a guy who supposedly had five other teams vying for his services.
