Pirates Add Church

I should put this in the offseason thread, but so much less than I thought was going to happen this offseason has, so...I don't know.

Pirates signed OF Ryan Church to a one-year, $1.5 million contract.

Church can make another $1.32 million via performance-based incentives based on the number of plate appearances he makes during the upcoming season. The 31-year-old hit .273/.338/.384 with four home runs and 40 RBI last year and will battle for playing time in the Pittsburgh outfield.

Church had his worst OPS since he was an Expo last season, so a bounce back is possible. I could seriously see him being moved at the deadline if he ends up earning playing time, anyway. Pretty much a risk free, reward free signing.
