Pirates THE 2009 Pirates Season Thread

I've been kinda lax in updating here in the last few months, gotta get back into it. Figure this will help. All news/rumours and the like go here.

I'll try to get some fun things going for the forum in the coming weeks, as well.

Pirates Re: THE 2009 Pirates Season Thread

    @

    Game 1, Friday: Bronson Arroyo(3-1, 6.48) v. Zach Duke(3-1, 2.43)
    Game 2, Saturday: Micah Owings(1-2, 3.78) v. Ross Ohlendorf(2-2, 3.24)
    Game 3, Sunday: Johnny Cueto(1-1, 2.19) v. Jeff Karstens(1-0, 5.40)

Should be a good series. Expecting the Pirates to take the first two, and get beat up by Cueto on Sunday.

Or...we'll get 4 hit by Cordero and Arroyo in game one and waste a good outing from ZD. Either or.

Saw where Tabata was going to miss 4-6 weeks with a hamstring? problem. That further hurts his development and this isn;t the first time he has been set back. Sucks. Also read McCutchen isn't going to be rushed anytime soon. Sucks because I really want to see him in the OF.

Doesn't hurt his development that much, he's still 21 and playing in Double A, if it takes him an extra year from this injury, then that makes him, what 23-24 making his major league debut? I'll take it.

Yeah, the outfield is pretty well set in the majors right now. If injuries strike down the stretch, I could see McC get a shot. Probably would need a Hinske trade or a Delwyn cut even then.

Jack Wilson will be activated today and it couldn't come at a better time. The Pirates have lost eight in a row.

Yeah, Jack made a nice play last night on a ball that ate Andy up, too. Good to have his D back, even though I prefer Ramon's bat.

Dukey looked real good last night, other than the Pujols homer. 3 hits in 7 innings after that, very nice for ZD. Moss also seemed to turn a corner with a couple hits, a homer and a nice play in RF.

I don't know if it was an injury, or just lack of control or concentration that messed him up last year, but he was just off almost all season.

Looks like he's coming back around with a good first outing the majors, and a nice start in AAA.
