Doumit Out 8-10 Weeks

Pirates placed C Ryan Doumit on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 20, with a fracture of the scaphoid bone in his right wrist.
He's scheduled for surgery on Thursday and is expected to be sidelined for 8-10 weeks. Robinzon Diaz, who lost out on a shot to be Doumit's backup during spring training, is taking his place on the active roster.

Terrible news for the Pirates who are off to a good start to the '09 season. Doumit is one of the better bats in that lineup and will be sorely missed. Diaz was hitting .350 (7-for-20) with a double and three RBI in six games for Triple-A Indianapolis.
