Pirates to trade or not to trade?

ok so the buccos are hovering around .500 and its late in the year. if and its a big if we continue to win, do we look to make trades in july for a playoff run? if yes, who would you consider parting ways with? if not why?

i think it would be foolish to let go of anyone for a playoff run. i would much rather have them work towards next season.

There is still time to wait and see if they are going to stick in it. I would keep the guys around and try to win again next year, but I'm not an expert on the Pirates.

I don't think making a move would be a good idea.

We're not going to challenge St. Louis this year, and we won't be playing at this high of a level forever, no matter how much we want them to.

No trades this year, either way. Unless Mesa is dealt, I wouldn't complain there. Plenty of guys here to replace him.

yeah i agree, i think any trades they are thinking about should involve someone with power. as far as pitching in concerned i think we have a lot of great young arms.

well after that poor road trip i think i've changed my mind. we should trade mesa NOW, while he has some value, and get gonzalez in the closer role. even if we get a guy just for this season, at least we'll know what we have in gonzalez.

Well, Gonzalez went on the DL today. I still say to deal Mesa, and give Torres the role for a couple weeks until Gonzalez is back.

I don't know about dealing Jack or Wigginton...

Wigginton just doesn't have any value right now, and would probably need to build some up before we got anything for him.

Jack just signed a semi-long term deal, no reason to deal him unless we're getting more than he's worth, which probably isn't going to happen.

Hill won't get us much, but he could surely go and everyone else I'm half expecting to go. Gotta put Mesa on that list too, need to see Gonzalez closing NOW.

I'd deal off Redman for sure. He's built up some nice value and I doubt he'll keep pitching to that level anyway.

Even sooner now, cause the last 3-4 starts for him have been horrid.
