The Pirates did not want to use up a roster spot on an aged veteran who has nothing left to help this team win. Cut the losses from the old GM and start fresh. Get someone young who can help the future of the Pirates on the roster rather than someone dragging it down. No one wanted to trade for him so they cut him and have been winning since.
This same arguement could be used in regards to Jason Isringhausen as well. :evilgrin:

Being only two games under .500 is a lot better than anyone thought they would be and they have a winning record since he was released so you are very welcome for the clarification!!

The "experts" always seem to underestimate young players unless they are the phenom #1 draft picks that they think are the best players in the world like Milwaukee and Arizona have. The Cardinals were supposed to stink this year too, shows you how much the "experts" know. The Pirates have as better team than they have had in a long time. I don't think Matt Morris would help at all as a starter. He might do alright in the pen, but I think the mentoring that he could do for those young players would be priceless.

I said anyone, not experts. Point is Morris wasn't helping but only hurting.

he had 4 or 5 starts. talk about a small sample size.
The Pirates are in last place without Morris.

Look at his stats. All going downhill. Small sample size but reality. You yourself said he sucks.
