Nady to be tested for Crohn's disease

BRADENTON, Fla. -- Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Xavier Nady will be tested Monday to determine if he has a chronic digestive ailment known as Crohn's disease.

Nady was hospitalized three days earlier this week for an inflamed intestine and, so far, doctors think he has a viral infection. But Nady is being tested for Crohn's disease because a cousin has it and it is known to run in the family.

Nady says he began to feel stomach pain Sunday night, then told the Pirates' medical staff about it Tuesday. He checked in to Manatee Memorial Hospital near the team's spring training facility on Tuesday night and checked out Thursday. Nady dressed for the team's two-hour workout today at Pirate City, but he did not participate in any activities.
Sad to hear, all you can do is hope for a speedy recovery from any illness and that despite his family history he doesn't have the disease.
I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.

Not good news, as he was supposed to return to drills on Friday. Just praying for the best for X.

I have a friend who was diagnosed with Crohns a couple years back. He COULD still play but expect days where the pain is too great. My friend was in almost constant pain.

I know someone who has Crohn's disease.

At first,he'll be in a lot of pain most of the time. But after the drugs set in and he adjusts his diet,he should be fine and able to play and be pain-free for the most part. The only thing I would fear is a flare-up while he's playing.

    From Rotoworld.com

After being examined by doctors Monday to determine if he has Crohn's disease, Xavier Nady returned to Pirates camp and told reporters, "Everything's going to be fine."

The team is expected to give further details Tuesday, according to general manager Dave Littlefield.

Great news for X and the team, we need him at 100% this year, and the I look forward to hearing more good news this afternoon.
