Free Agents that the Pirates need?

I figure your needs would be power bat of some kind and a SP. Which FA players would you want Littlefield to go after? A 1B on that list? Perhaps go after Casey and get that LH stick back?

So who is it that this team needs and should go after?

Pirates need starting pitching, first base help, second base help, shortstop help, center field help, right field help, catcher help, and bullpen help.

    They don't need a catcher.

Right, because Ronny Paulino is obviously the solution!

But most do have a catcher that slugs over .394.

    Ok, good then.

But the point is, they have far more pressing needs than a catcher. They'll be fine with Paulino and D'oh-mit, who both are also still in their mid 20's. More consistency up the middle on offense is a big need. And good veteran pitchers.. that they'll keep for more than 3-4 months.

Heh, this team? Need FA's? Like Burnitz and Randa?

Save the money and use it on signing draft picks.

And the bullpen is the best part of this team, DK. Capps, Gonzalez, Torres, and even Marte/Grabow for some stretches were very good last year.

Ok, I like the idea thrown out there Witlon. So be patient and wait to build a winner within?
