    Pirates Season Thread

Instead of making series threads, I figure it'll be easier to keep everything in one post.

    Roy Oswalt(3-1, 3.41 ERA, 21 K- 7 BB)
    Oliver Perez(0-2, 9.00 ERA, 18 K- 16 BB)

    Gametime is 7:05 EST.

Kip Wells 4 hits the Astros through 7, and White and Mesa pitch scoreless 8th and 9th to get the win, 2-0.

Damn, where is this coming from?

The fact that we only scored 4 runs in the series kinda blows, and the fact that Rick White pitched the 8th, again, kinda concerns me. But hey, it's a sweep.

but the front office and lloyd knew that our run production would suck, that is why they kept telling us how great our pitching was going to be. finally they have come through. but i agree it can never hurt to have extra runs!

well witlon it was good while it lasted. rumors are starting fly here in the burgh of trading mesa, and cutting santiago. at this point they should just bring up zack duke and all the other prospects and try to win with them. this season is already over....................

Trading Mesa wouldn't be a bad idea right now, get him while his value is at his highest point.

Gonzalez and Torres can hold down the closer job just fine anyway. And maybe even if we get a great offer on Torres, ship him too(even though he's cheap and effective.)

Santiago needs to play, we should be able to get at least a mariginal prospect out of him if he hits...

    Another win over Houston tonight.

Kip Wells gave up 3 earned in 6, Craig and Jack Wilson both homered for the first time this season and Mesa picked up the save.

Ezquiel Astacio allowed 4 earned in 6 in his first major league start.

Mesa now has a save in all 9 of the Pirates wins this season, which is a running MLB record...

Rick White pitched 1.2 scoreless innings for his first win as a Pirate. Chad Qualls took the loss for Houston, giving up 3 earned in 2 innings.
