    Pirates Season Thread

Non-gameday results will be placed in here.

    April 3
    Matchup: Pirates @ Brewers
    Where: Miller Park

Victor Santos had a rough Pirates debut, giving up 3 runs in 4.3 as the Brewers defeated the Pirates for a second straight night. The Pirates got a pair of 2 run homers from newcomers Jeremy Burnitz and Sean Casey, and three hits from second baseman Jose Castillo, but only pieced 5 runs together.

The Brewers, lead by Chris Capuano(2 ER in 6) won for the second straight day. Gabe Gross' sixth inning home run off of Ryan Vogelsong proved to be the sealer. The Brewers got 3 hits from CF Brady Clark, and 3 RBI from catcher Damian Miller.

Derrick Turnbow picked up his second save, and...wait for it...Danny Kolb picked up the hold. Huh!??!

    WP- Capuano
    LP- Santos
    H- Kolb
    S- Turnbow

Well next for the Pirates will be the Reds. First time Sean Casey is gonna return to Cincy. Should be a great moment for Case. I wish you guys good luck this upcoming series.

Good game today Bucs fans. Definitely gave me a scare when they tied it up at 5. Good to see the Randa HR and both he and casey getting a warm welcome back in Cincy. Good luck tomorrow, it will be a good one!

Yeah it definitely is not the best start for you guys. But to see guys like Duke and Maholm mature on the mound is all worth it IMO.

That is a good way to look at it. I think this team definitely has a bright future with the before mentioned pitchers and guys like McCutchen waiting for their days of fame.

The Pirates have a good young team and with a little time others will be looking up at them. Have Faith it will happen!

The only place this team can go is up, though. I could live with the team floundering around the bottom so that we could spin Casey, Randa, Wilson and Burnitz into a couple prospects, hopefully.

Duffy is really looking awful against fastballs IMO. He made a big double today, but he has looked terrible otherwise.

I have always liked Jack Wilson. I thought he was All-Star material last year and it would be nice to see him continue in that mold. I have to say that Castillo is an impressive 2B. He made a name for himself for me this series and I would say he was the best part of your team this series as well.

And of course Bay keeps on hitting. I think you guys will be fine especially if you can get some help in the pen. Both the Pirates and the Reds are getting wrecked late in games.

Home opener today, and once again, I get screwed out of TV by 5 lousy miles the wrong way.

I'll keep an eye on the game through gamechannel.

Starters are Odalis Perez(LA) and Zach Duke.

    3-0 Dodgers, mid 1

2 run HR by Jason Repko, and an RBI triple by Cody Ross in the first for the Dodgers...ugh
