The Phillies signed Adam Bernero and assigned him to Triple-A Scranton.
Bernero was pitching for the Royals' Triple-A team in Omaha, but was made a free agent due to a clause in his contract. He had a 3.27 ERA for Omaha this season.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Jon Lieber is "not close to coming back from a groin injury."
Lieber initially thought he could return within a few weeks, but that's sounding unlikely

The eight strikeouts are a new high for Hamels, but he took his first loss in four starts since being recalled. He gave up six hits and walked two while throwing 93 pitches

In my opinion, Brito needs to be sent all the way down to triple A, we really need to go out and acquire i true ace, also gavin floyd should have a one more chance to come up and prove that he can play at the ML level

Brett Myers was charged with six runs -- five earned -- in 2 2/3 innings Wednesday in a loss to the Mets.
Myers didn't get much help from his defense. In the third, Aaron Rowand failed to run down Endy Chavez's triple. It would have been a tough play, but it was the kind of ball we've come to expect Rowand make a play on. Three batters later, there was another triple, this one going to Jose Reyes, on a clear error from Bobby Abreu. Myers was removed after that, and it was obvious as he was walking off that he wasn't happy with Abreu's effort.

Cole Hamels gave up seven runs -- five earned -- in 3 2/3 innings Friday in a loss to the Rays.
Back-to-back disappointing outings from Hamels, who now has a 4.91 ERA in five starts since being called up. He's still recommended in all formats while healthy, but mixed leaguers should bench him for his outing against the Yankees next week.

Lieber hasn't thrown since May 29 and was described as "not close to coming back" last week.

Ryan Madson earned a win by holding the Devil Rays to four runs -- two earned -- in 6 2/3 innings today.
Madson struck out four and walked two while yielding five hits, including a pair of homers. He needs more outings like this to ensure that he remains in the rotation once Jon Lieber returns. However, he'll have a much tougher time against the Red Sox at Fenway Park next time out.

Randy Wolf (elbow, hand) threw off the mound Sunday without complication.
His return from July 2005 elbow surgery was stopped last week when he took a batted ball off his left hand in his second rehab start. He is expected to start Wednesday at Double-A Reading.

Brett Myers struck out a season-high 11 batters while limiting the Yankees to two runs in 6 2/3 innings in a victory on Monday night.
Myers did walk six batters in the game, forcing him to throw 124 pitches, but he still bounced back well from his two worst starts of the season. The victory was his first since May 30

Jon Lieber (groin) is scheduled to start for the Gulf Coast Phillies Thursday.
If Lieber is pain-free following the outing he will start for Single-A Clearwater on June 27 and Double-A Reading on July 2. He could then return to the Phillies rotation to start July 7 against Pittsburgh

Randy Wolf (elbow, hand) will start for Double-A Reading on Wednesday night.
Wolf injured his hand during his last minor league rehab start when he was hit by a batted ball. The Phillies don't expect him back until around the All-Star break.

Jon Lieber (groin) allowed one run over three innings Thursday in a rehab start for the Rookie GCL Phillies.
Lieber gave up four hits, hit a batter with a pitch and struck out one. "It felt good to get back out there and start facing hitters again," he said. "I was really surprised that I wasn't drained. My legs felt great and my arm felt great. I was just really pleased all around." Lieber will make at least one more start. If that goes well, he'll come off the DL on July 2. Jun. 22 - 8:41 pm et
