Thread: Cy Floyd

    Cy Floyd

22 year-old Gavin Floyd made his first start of the season in place of Vicente Padilla, and absolutely stunned the most potent lineup in the NL(St. Louis). 7 IP, 3 H, 1 ER and 2 K's. He would've had more k's, but the ump ignorantly refused to call the low curve.

At 22 Floyd is still refining his best pitch--his 12-to-6 curve--but it's alrrady devastating. His velocity is up 5 mph from where it was last year, and his maturity on the mound is far beyond what should be expected from someone his age. He deserves a fulltime rotation spot, but the question is... where? Most logical bet would be to move the inconsistent Brett Myers out of the rotation, but we'll see.

Keep an eye on Floyd, though. he's going to be dominant.
