    Phillies Halladay out 6-8 weeks

Phillies placed RHP Roy Halladay on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right lat muscle.
Halladay is expected to miss 6-8 weeks. It's a brutal blow to a Phillies team that is already coping with multiple injured stars, and it should make things all the more interesting at the top of the National League East standings. Halladay had gone six straight seasons with 200 innings or more. That will be snapped this year.
On the day Halladay goes to the DL, former teammate Roy Oswalt signs with the Rangers. Amaro is wishing he would have had a shot at Oswalt right about now. Halladay was having somewhat of a down year by his standards with a 3.98 ERA and 1.15 WHIP. Nonetheless, it's a huge blow for the already struggling Phillies.

And I picked the Phillies to win the East...

Another blow. It can't feel too good for the fans right now.

If that offense can just be good enough. I know it's pretty damaged with injuries too but if it finds a consistent stride, they can withstand this. They get Howard and Utley back eventually right? And Vance Worley.

It's worth noting, their rotation when they won the world series, was Hamels-Moyer-Myers-Adam Eaton-Kendrick and midseason acquisition Joe Blanton. So having at the very least, Lee-Hamels-Worley..they should manage on that end. I wouldn't write them off yet cause no one above them has really proven they have the ability to sustain their early success. Nationals are ravaged by injuries, the Mets are the Mets, the Braves are on bad losing streak, and the Marlins are combustable.

Both of who were in decline before their injuries. The Phillies won that WS you referenced when these guys were in their prime and could carry on offense. Now you don't know what the hell you've got except for Utley who is a shell of himself.
