Phillies Cust finds a new home

The Phillies have agreed to terms on a minor league deal with Jack Cust, according to Todd Zolecki of MLB.com (on Twitter). The move is pending a physical.

The Mariners, who signed Cust to a $2.5MM deal over the winter, released him earlier this month. The 32-year-old posted a .213/.344/.329 line with three homers in 270 plate appearances this year. After averaging 28 homers and 103 walks with the A's from 2007-09, Cust's power numbers have fallen off in 2010-11.
Cust is going for lucky team #7 if he joins the big league club. Cust has also played with the Dbacks, Rockies, Orioles, Padres, A's and of course the M's. Could he be reaching for Matt Stairs status?

I remember seeing both Cust and Stairs out in AZ during spring training in 2002. The Rox had just gotten Jack from the Backs and Matt had just joined the Crew from the Cubs. I saw many games at the Brewers facility in Maryvale as it is was very player accessible. I saw Mark Prior pitch his first time with the Cubs sitting next to and behind all his family that came to see him.

I wonder if a player can be signed and released by all 30 teams in one season.
