Phillies re-signed LHP J.C. Romero to a one-year, $1.35 million contract.
Romero, 34, pitched to a 3.68 ERA last season, despite an underwhelming 28/29 K/BB ratio over 36 2/3 innings. He had a 20/11 K/BB ratio against left-handed batters, so hopefully Charlie Manuel will use him more appropriately in 2011.
I thought the Phillies signed Dennys Reyes but apparently that fell through so this signing makes more sense to me now than it did when I first read about it. Phillie still needs to work on that bullpen in my view.
