Phillies Phillies, Contreras Close To Deal

According to Enrique Rojas of ESPN Deportes, the Phillies are nearing a two-year extension with free agent righty Jose Contreras.
The contract, according to Rojas' sources, will be worth around $5 million and includes a third-year option with performance incentives. Signing a reliever to a multi-year deal is always a risky venture, but the 38-year-old Contreras posted a solid 3.34 ERA and 57/16 K/BB ratio in 56 2/3 innings this past year and most definitely still has the goods.
Contreras was the only Philly reliever to make the Giants look completely lost at the plate during the playoffs. That's about as much as I saw him pitch last season but if he was looking that nasty that late in the season, I don't see why the Phillies wouldn't want to bring him back.

I don't know about the amount of years, especially the option for the third season. Jose is getting up there in age.
