    Re: the heck

It's the Ibanez factor. Raul isn't hitting and the rest of the team suffers.

As for Howard and Werth, I don't know if I'd call either trash. Both are down somewhat versus last season, but there is a lot further down they could fall than what has been seen this season (especially Werth, who at least with his bat, has turned into more of a doubles hitter this season.) Injuries are obviously killing you guys, especially compared to the luck of other teams. Utley, Rollins, Polanco, etc... that's rough.

yeah man its terrible. i cant even watch sometimes. ibanez better be gone after this season, he keeps getting worse.. probably his age.

werth should still be a huge hr hitter batting where he is (doubles arent helping us much as we tend to ya know strand tons of runners)

    Re: the heck

Howard's on fire, he's the only one hitting.

How about the problem being the top of the order? Victorino has turned into a power hitter with no OBP, and Rollins has been on the DL for the majority of the year. The table setters.. haven't been. And your #3 hitter has been on the DL.

Totally agree there. When 1-3 hitters have been on the DL and rarely playing together, and healthy, its hard for the rest of the lineup to find its groove.

    Re: the heck

Yep. They're still loaded with power and speed, which Dominic Brown only adds to those strengths, but they're lacking small ball aspects.. contact and drawing walks. I mean, Utley and Howard can do that, Werth sometimes as well, but the OBP for the top of the order guys has been weak. Victorino's OBP is barely above .300, that's really awful. Rollins and Polanco have been weak in that area too.

And now they really need pitching. As a braves fan, I'm not complaining, but I've enjoyed watching them the last couple of years.

    Re: the heck

well i went to the game today (phils romped the rockies 10-2)
jimenez (that dude on the rockies) really really sucks in the heat, he let up 7 runs in the 3rd (maybe 2nd, i was sort of wasted) and walked about 5 batters then promptly got taken out. our bats finally came alive and i even got to witness a rare raaaauuulllll homerun. maybe this is a good sign were turning it around.
