Phillies Chase Utley; best in the game?

Well, this guy attempts on making the argument.

Summarizing the past five-plus seasons, we have Utley with 907 Total Runs and Pujols with 878. And that’s why I submit that Utley is currently baseball’s best. (By the way, over that time span, no one else is close; Jimmy Rollins is a distant third with 742 Total Runs).
For me, this guy dug up a little too much to try and write an article. The bottom line, Pujols puts up better numbers year in and year out. But, if you aren't careful, he may convince you.

He is just making the case Chase Utley is more valuable because he saves more runs by playing great defense at second base. His theory isn't a stretch.

Yes, it is a very competent position to argue from. Maybe on a fantasy team the decision is easy to choose Pujols, but if you were starting an expansion team and could choose between Pujols and Utley.... the decision would be very tough.
