The Phillies have reportedly re-signed reliever Scott Eyre to a one-year, $2 million contract.
It's a paycut for a guy who made $3.8 million last season, but not as big of one as it looked like he might have to take a couple of months ago. Eyre allowed three runs in 14 1/3 innings after getting released by the Cubs and joining the Phillies.
After winning a ring, Eyre would have been a fool to leave since the Phillies have a good chance to repeat. Eyre found success in the Phillies pen with a 1.88 ERA in 19 games. He gave up just one run in five games in the postseason. Good job by the Phillies to get this guy for such a cheap price tag.
