Red Sox at the plate: David Ortiz re-joined the Grapefruit League with an impressive homer to right field that traveled over a second fence beyond the field. He also doubled in a run in the first, part of a four-run inning. Julio Lugo led off that frame with a triple, and Doug Mirabelli added an RBI double. Boston finished off the Phillies with a six-run fifth inning.

Phillies at the plate: Wes Helms clubbed his second homer of the spring in the first, scoring Shane Victorino, who had walked. Rod Barajas also added a bloop two-out single, which also contributed to a run.

Red Sox on the mound: Rookie Kason Gabbard allowed three runs (two earned) in two innings. He surrendered two hits and two walks, while striking out two.

Phillies on the mound: Cole Hamels had a rough first inning, as he allowed the first four batters to reach on two walks, a double and a triple. Joe Bisenius continued to impress with two scoreless innings. He allowed one hit and struck out three. Matt Smith, considered a lock for the bullpen, struggled for the second straight outing, walking three and allowing two hits in two-thirds of an inning.

Grapefruit League Records: Phillies, 4-5; Red Sox, 5-5.

Up next: The Phillies split up for a pair of road trips on Saturday. Freddy Garcia and regulars Pat Burrell, Jimmy Rollins, Ryan Howard, Chase Utley and Aaron Rowand are sheduled to head to Tampa to face the Devil Rays, while Jon Lieber heads to Kissimee to face the Astros. Both games start at 1:05 p.m. ET.

The Red Sox are on the road to face the Tigers on Saturday at 1:05 p.m.
