PHILLIES 6, BLUE JAYS 3
Clearwater, Fla.
Wednesday, March 7

Blue Jays at the plate: The Jays took advantage of Brett Myers' wildness to score two runs in the third. Jason Phillips, Russ Adams and Royce Clayton walked around a fielder's-choice groundout, and Lyle Overbay and Vernon Wells each stroked RBI singles. Jason Smith hit a game-tying homer in the eighth.

Phillies at the plate: Brennan King ended the game with a three-run home run to left field, his second game-winning hit in as many games. Pat Burrell and Wes Helms caused damage in the fourth inning, with back-to-back home runs. Burrell's was a two-run shot that scored Howard, who worked a two-out walk. Chase Utley also contributed with two singles.

Blue Jays on the mound: Gustavo Chacin worked three scoreless innings, allowing one hit. Shaun Marcum, who's competiting for a rotation spot, allowed three hits and a walk in two innings, including back-to-back homers to Burrell and Helms.

Phillies on the mound: Myers had trouble finding his rhythm, explaining his three third-inning walks. He allowed four walks total, and two runs in 2 2/3 innings. J.A. Happ turned in 3 2/3 solid innings, allowing one hit (a home run) and striking out three.

Grapefruit League records: Phillies 4-3; Blue Jays 4-2-1.

Up next: Adam Eaton will start the Phils' "B" game in Dunedin against the Blue Jays on Thursday, while Brian Mazone starts against the Indians. This will be the only trip to Winter Haven this spring for Phillies manager Charlie Manuel, who has a house 15 minutes away. He spent many years with the Indians, as a hitting coach and manager. Jays right-hander Tomo Ohka is scheduled to make his second start of the spring in a 1:05 p.m. ET tilt against the Red Sox at City of Palms Park in Fort Myers, Fla. Right-hander A.J. Burnett will start against the Phillies in a 10 a.m. "B" game at Knology Park.
