Reds at the plate: Jerry Gil had two hits, including the game-tying solo home run in the bottom of the eighth inning. The go-ahead run scored on Chad Moeller's perfectly executed suicide squeeze bunt. Adam Dunn had a two-run single in the third inning. Brandon Phillips was 2-for-3 with a two-run home run to center field in the fourth inning. Paul Janish, Joey Votto and Norris Hopper hit consecutive RBI singles in the seventh.

Phillies at the plate: Wes Helms had a two-run double in the first inning. Carlos Ruiz hit a two-run homer to left field in the fifth. Shane Victorino and Chase Utley each collected two hits.

Reds on the mound: In his second appearance, and first start, of the spring, Paul Wilson allowed five earned runs over 2 2/3 innings. Wilson also gave up seven hits and three walks while striking out three. Fellow fifth starter candidate Kirk Saarloos took over and pitched 2 1/3 innings and allowed two earned runs and five hits. Reliever Bill Bray pitched one perfect inning and struck out two.

Phillies on the mound: Phillies starter Jon Lieber worked two scoreless innings and allowed three hits without a walk and struck out three. Alfredo Simon gave up four earned runs over 1 2/3 innings.

Grapefruit League records: Reds 5-0; Phillies 2-3.
