With his 48th homerun of the season, Ryan Howard tied hall of famer Mike Schmidt's club record for homeruns in a season.

The best part of this is the fact that the Pirates could have traded for him. Like two years ago they offered him for Benson or Wells and the said it wasnt enough. Ah the irony of how it turned out.

Ryan Howard is going to have one hell of a career, I mean look where he started... I remember a statistic through his first 162 games and it read pretty much .295, 56 hrs, 130 rbis. That looks to be his first full season as well, this guy has nowhere to go but up. Watch out Pujols, you've got some competition.

What can I say. Howard is a beast.

Not like we didn't know this was going to happen but, Ryan Howard is now the Phillies single season homerun king after hitting his 49th in yesterday's game.

Howard just hit 3 homeruns off of Tim Hudson in the first game of a double header today. That puts him at an amazing 52 homeruns for the season.

if the Phils somehow manage to come back and win the W.C. spot especially after the Abreu-Lidle trade and the Bell trade... He most definitely desrverses the M.V.P. But will the media allow it, haven't they already got Pujols' name etched into the trophy... Even though I think Pujols is the best player in baseball... It is just his time.... Just like when he deserved the mvp and the media kept giving to Bonds!!!!!

I used to think the MVP would go to Pujols but now, I think Howard will get it if he manages to top the 60 mark. Hitting somewhere in the 50's probably wouldn't be enough going against Pujols great year, but if he tops 60 could win it.

Howard probably deserves it, but Pujols will probably get it... Considering he was out for three weeks and is just about as hot as Howard with the bat right now too

it is going to be interesting... the MVP that is!!! Still think it is Pujols' award... But Howard is most definitely charging with a fury! Pujols is going to have to keep responding...
