It doesn't really matter what they do, he is on a tear. In his last 7, he has 4 HR's, a .523 average, and an OPS near 2.000. He bumped his average up to .316 and will probably win himself an MVP if the Phillies make the playoffs, since he is singlehandedly carrying that team.

Does anyone remember a 36 game hitting streak by a certain second baseman? Single handed is a little much but he is a big part.

the gap has most certainly closed and it is going to come down to the wire between Howard and Pujols... I still think it is Pujols' award to loose... Howard probably deserves it, but the voters go on reputation a lot of the time... Frankly they both deserve it. They are both the "main" offense for both of their teams.

Cabrera is having an excellent year, no question, but stands no chance against Pujols and Howard.

I second Molina's post.. Cabrera is great... But even if the Marlins make the post season, not enough publicity to snill the award, he may finish in 3rd, but it would be a very distant 3rd.
