Haren looked good last night, but Witasick gave it up as the A's lost 5 - 4 in the 1st game to the Giants. Witasick's numbers have not been good up to this point.

Providence A's...Haren did not just look good he looked GREAT! Witasick will be one of the A's weak links if they have any. I look forward to wonderful baseball in the Bay Area this year on both sides of the Bay.

from what I've read Witasick is notorious for sucking in ST, so I'm not that concerned yet.

    A's crushed the Giants today 14 - 3.

Swisher, Chavez, and Thomas homered. Loaiza gave up 1 run in 6 innings, but only had 1 k. Giants pitchers all gave up at least 2 runs with Matt Cain getting hammered while taking the loss.

I watched most of today's game although I turned it on right after Chavez homered. First of all, I'm glad Kielty was sent down. The guy is HORRIBLE from the right side and is HORRIBLE in the outfield. He shows zero heart when he plays. Second, the Thomas HR was sweet!! Very nice to see. Both of our starters have looked excellent the last two games. I'm also very impressed with the amount of depth on this team. Perez is no joke as well as guys like Payton and Scutaro. One thing I'm worried about is Bradley- he looks lost at the plate right now. That said, he was pumped after the The Hurt hit the HR so hopefully he'll pull out of it. There is a noticeable swagger with this team so let's hope it continues. Oh and Swisher is locked in right now.

This is going to be fun folks.

The way the A's spin Kielty down to AAA is that they may need an extra starter due to weather. They're anticipating one of the Yankee games to get rained out and a double header the next day. The reasoning is because the Yankees only make 1 trip to Oakland this year.

A's finished the exhibition season with a 5 - 3 win today to take 2 of 3 from the Giants. I believe we finished 15 - 17 (16 - 17 if you count the game against South Africa).

Athletics shortstop Bobby Crosby, who suffered a deep cut to his left index finger in the season opener, may miss more than the originally anticipated one-week. "It's looking a little ugly,' manager Ken Macha told the San Francisco Chronicle. "The concern is how well the skin is going to heal. It was peeled away pretty good."

    Loaiza blew chunks last night.

    http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/articl...PGTDI5C951.DTL

Seattle -- Frank Thomas and Milton Bradley endeared themselves to Oakland fans almost immediately with big performances against the Yankees this week.

The other prominent new member of the team, Esteban Loaiza, did not make such a glittery first impression. In his first start for the A's, Loaiza appeared quite hittable, allowing five runs in 4 2/3 innings to a Seattle club that has opened up with more verve than expected.

The Mariners knocked out nine hits against Loaiza, most of them line drives, in a 6-2 victory over the A's, who are widely regarded as the division favorites. Seattle, which is coming off consecutive 90-plus loss seasons, also took two of three from the Angels, the defending AL West champs, to kick things off.

Loaiza faced 25 batters and threw only seven first-pitch strikes.
    boo!!!!
