    A's August Thread

So out of sheer laziness, here is the new thread for all the A's series for the rest of the month.

As of right now, we're down 6-2 in the firth to the Twins. McCarthy lasted just 3 1/3 innings. Hopefully we can keep the game close and come back and tie it(?). If not, let's go for the series win tomorrow ('specially cuz I'll be at the game!!!).

I know, super psyched. Straily was optioned back to Sacramento to make room. Apparently Anderson has also lost a bit of weight...somewhere around 225-230 as opposed to some twenty pounds heavier. Hopefully that'll mean he won't have to labor as hard...we shall see.

    7 innings, 4 hits, 1 earned run, 0 walks, and 6 k's. A's lead 4 - 1 in the 8th. They turned a triple play, too.

Game over, A's take the game. But O.M.G. the stadium (or at least the section I was in) went crazy with the 5-4-3 triple play. Anderson's performance was fabulous too, don't get me wrong, but there's something about the rarity of that play that was just...wow.

Won the series with a 5-1 victory earlier this afternoon. Everyone played well, especially given the fact they had received the news about Colon just hours before game time. Still in the thick of the WC race. And now we get to have two series against two of our competitors.

Off to St. Petersburg we go!

    @ TB
    @ CLE
    vs. BOS
    VS ANA

Do you mean TB and ANA?

They play DET and BAL in the middle of September...who knows what things will look like at that point though.

I'm guessing they fall short of a wild card, but I'd love if they got one. Anything can happen in that 1-game playoff. And if anyone gets hot, you never know. I'm not expecting anything. Finishing much better than the Red Sox makes me happy though.

Yes I do (mean TB and LAA). I had a mental lapse there. Don't take seroquel folks, you'll (ironically) lose your mind.

I don't know I guess I'm still pretty optimistic we'll get one of the two spots. Yeah, it'll require a lot, but with a healthy Anderson and the (potential? soon?) return of Inge (for what it's worth), I think we can muster enough to grab a spot. Beyond that I feel like they won't get far, but again am cautiously optimistic. And if not, the organization and fans can take heart in the fact that we're 11 games over .500, which is the first time that's happened since our run in 2006.
