Glad to see Jay Payton doing well since coming over. I'm pulling for him and I hope he does well for you guys. He never really had much opportunity to do well in SD. He was surrounded by lots of negativity and stifled. I'll always remember him from the series with the Yankees in 2000.

Likewise, glad Payton is getting to play in Oakland and taking advantage of it.

BTW, this is precisely why the A's scare me. If they get a boost out of a guy like Jay Payton, and their lineup produces, their pitching doesn't look like it is slowing down. I don't think the Angels will choke away the division, but the WC is wide open to teams like the Sox, Yankees, Orioles, A's, Rangers, and Twins (maybe even Tigers and Blue Jays if they get hot), and it isn't a given to the AL East this year.

In his last two starts, Harden has pitched 17 2/3 innings and given up 6 hits and 1 earned run against two very good hitting baseball teams. Great job Rich and we needed that win last night.
